Selling Animals Online and Getting the Best Deals

If you decide to sell kittens online, you’ll need to get your kittens from somewhere. Most people who want to sell animals will breed them so they are sure they are cared for properly. When advertising pets for sale online, there are certain things to mention too.

Choosing a Breed to Sell
The breed you choose to sell should be distinct and popular breeds that will fetch the best price. Mixed breeds are being bred and sold excessively by people who have surprise litters, but breeds like the Persian, Siamese or Scottish Fold are hard to come by without spending time and money on the breeding process. If you can’t afford a high end breed, cross breeding will give you the attributes you’d like at a lower price. Choose the breed based on the kittens for sale later like unusual coloring or great temperament.

Breeding Process
Before breeding your female with a male, make sure both male and female are up to date on their shots and vet visits. Vets will check for intestinal parasites and ensure that the female is prepared to breed. The female should have a special diet when she’s ready to kitten. It should have extra nutrients for the breeding process, which can stress her body. These extra nutrients are important for building up her milk production at the end of her pregnancy.

Preparing for the Kitten’s Arrival
Once the female is ready to give birth, which can take approximately 66 days, it’s time for you to prepare an area for the new arrivals. The room should be easy to clean and warm enough for the babies. The laundry room might be a good choice if it’s in the home’s first level and is heated properly. A laundry basket filled with old clothes can be provided for the expectant female, but don’t expect her to use it for giving birth.

The mothers like to hide by themselves when they are in labor. That means you do not have to hover and comfort her. She’ll most likely want to be left alone. Check on her to be sure she isn’t in distress but let nature take its course.

Once she starts birthing the babies, allow her to clean them so she can bond with the little ones immediately. If there’s a problem with any of them, you can intervene. Clear any obstructions to their breathing and vigorously rub them with a towel. For the first few days, the mother will stay with her babies.

Quality Care and Feeding
Throughout the entire year, a female used for breeding purposes should be given a diet rich in nutrients to keep her body in top physical condition. The babies should be weaning from the mother at about three to four weeks. They can start on food at that time, but will often milk from their mother too.

Expenses
It’s not cheap to breed and care for animals, which is why higher end breeds are better for making money from cats for sale online. Vet fees, shots and special food for the mother and her babies are some of the expenses you’ll come across when breeding.

Selling Animals Online
When selling any kind of pet online, you’ll need to make sure you find a good home for them. With special breeds, you can be more selective about the home that receives your babies. You want to price them to sell, but not at a cheap price. Some high-end breeds can be quite expensive, and you should research the type of breed as well as its normal selling point.

Include plenty of pictures of the kittens for sale. List details that will be important for the sale like the information about the parents. If the babies have become attached to toys, you can sell these along with the pet. You might consider selling other pet accessories with your animals like traveling cases, feeding bowls or collars.

Pet Accessories
When you’re selling a pet through breeding, you might want to invest in more stock of accessories to be sold along with the pet. Climbing habitats and cat beds are a great accessory to sell along with the animals. Many buyers will see how much the kitten enjoys the accessories when they come by to pick up the cat. You can sell many other items such as food and water bowls too.

Questions to Ask

Are there children in the home?
You’ll want to find out how much time they will have to devote to the new kitten. If there are children, make sure the entire family is enthusiastic about the new pet and will be willing to share in the responsibilities.

Do they understand the costs of caring for a pet?
Cats can cost more money than people expect. They seem like pets that are able to take care of themselves, but there are vet visits and other costs associated with their care. You might consider asking the potential buyers to return the cat to you if they plan on selling or giving the cat away at any time.

Will they be grooming the cat themselves?
Long-haired breeds will need a consistent grooming schedule since their coats can become matted and filled with food or waste. They need to be brushed almost every day and washed at least once a week if they become dirty. The potential buyers should understand the grooming that needs to occur.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions about the type of home environment the kitten will be living when it leaves you. You’ll become attached to the babies before you sell them, and it’s okay to want to make sure that the pets will be in a great home. Potential buyers will appreciate the quality of care and commitment that you put into the animals. They will have confidence in buying from you, and will often recommend your animals to friends and family.
