The Samsung company released the Galaxy S9+ in 2018. It soon became a popular choice among the Android lovers. As it is from Samsung’s high end models, the price was sky high when it was released. However, after 3 years since its release, the price is now very low compared to the initial price.
This old flagship has a gorgeous screen and modern curved glass design. Moreover, it also has enough processing power for most people. The S9 Plus also comes with a dual-lens camera setup. In addition, the camera provides one of the best for low-light photography. The S9 provides a slightly larger 6.2-inch curved screen with HDR10.
It comes with the fingerprint scanner center-aligned on the back. It also comes with stereo speakers giving you superb sounds.
Despite its newer competitors such as even the latest Galaxy S20, the Galaxy S9 Plus still holds its place. It still remains one of Samsung’s most advanced big phones. This is thanks to its oversized screen and superb cameras.

Samsung Galaxy S8
Released in 2017, this was the predecessor of Galaxy S9+. However, the Samsung Galaxy S8 still holds up to date. In fact, the processors, RAM, displays and cameras are still fantastic. Moreover, the many newer mid-range Samsung devices perform more or less around the same features. However, the difference is that the older premium device has that premium look while the newer ones are nowhere near. Just have a Galaxy A51 and a Galaxy S8 together and you will see!
The S8 also has a quick rear fingerprint sensor and a 3,000 mAh battery. However, if you are a fan of big screens, the S8 will be a bit of a disappointment. The newer A51 has a bigger screen. However, the point to remember is that the S8 display is still better than the newer devices.
The Galaxy S8 has a 5.8″ Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with 570 ppi. In fact, that is more pixels-per-inch than the newer high-end Samsung Galaxy S20’s display (563 pixels). What’s more, this higher number of pixels combined with the smaller screen gives a very crisp and vibrant display.
To speak the truth, its cameras are a full generation behind. However, they are still very capable and still set a level above the newer value-focused phones available at a similar price now. The only drawback found is its small 3000mAh battery. However, this will not affect your user experience drastically. The reason being, many newer devices come with a battery capacity of the same range, and that, too, at higher prices.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8
The company released the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 towards the end of 2017. However, it still continues to perform surprisingly well.
This device comes with a Super AMOLED display looking just as stunning as ever. In addition, it boasts a resolution of 2960 x 1440. These numbers are plenty sharp by today’s standards. Moreover, the design also looks pretty modern. This is in spite of the “large” bezels on the screen’s top and bottom.
Have you been hating that the newer Galaxy Note devices do not let you expand storage? Well, the Note 8 does. Moreover, you also get 6GB RAM. This is more than what you get in many newer Samsung devices. So, with the Note 8, you get to do seamless multitasking.
However, the S Pen in the Note 8 lacks some new features. They include its function as a remote shutter button and switching between camera modes. Except those, it still works fine in terms of writing quick notes and drawing.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9
The company released the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in 2018. That was 3 years ago. However , it still competes with other newer devices.
The Note 9 is still able to challenge many newer phones with its appearance. It still feels modern from top to bottom.
In terms of the Note 9’s hardware, screen, capabilities and other specs, it still is able to beat many newer flagship devices. The general performance and battery life is on par, and sometimes better. However, it does not feature the wide angle rear camera. Anyway, there are many newer mid range devices lacking the same feature, too.
The device comes with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with 516 ppi. These numbers are still capable of giving you a crisp display. You can get this device with either a 6 GB or 8GB RAM, which is the same RAM amount that comes with the latest Galaxy S20. Moreover, you also get a 4000 mAh Li-Ion battery which is quite good and is the same as S20. This is so much better compared to newer devices with lesser battery life.
The current Samsung Galaxy Note 9 price in Sri Lanka ranges between 47,000 LKR and 70,000 LKR. This original price at its launch was around 2 lakhs.
