The Official Release Date of iPhone 16 Revealed
As September rolls in, the world’s attention turns once again to Apple. Every year, this global tech giant introduces groundbreaking new models of its products, capturing the interest of millions around the globe.
This year, Apple is gearing up to unveil the iPhone 16 series at its highly anticipated annual event, “Glowtime,” set to take place at Apple Park on Monday, September 9. Like last year, the lineup is expected to consist of four models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Each of these models will likely come with significant design changes and a host of new features.
1. Larger Displays
The Largest iPhones Yet
According to reports, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature larger displays, measuring 6.27 inches and 6.86 inches, respectively. In comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max feature 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays. This marks the largest display sizes ever introduced for an iPhone.
2. Vertical Camera Setup
iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus
The base models of the iPhone 16 series will see a shift from the diagonal camera layout found in the iPhone 15 to a vertical setup featuring a raised pill-shaped camera bump. This new design will include two separate camera rings dedicated to the Wide and Ultra-Wide cameras, respectively. This vertical arrangement is expected to enable Spatial Video recording, a feature currently limited to the iPhone 15 Pro models.
3. Expanded Storage Capacity
iPhone 16 Pro Models
Rumors suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models will double the maximum storage capacity of their predecessors, offering options ranging from 1TB up to 2TB.
4. 40W Fast Charging and 20W MagSafe
iPhone 16 Pro Models
Both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will support 40W wired fast charging and 20W MagSafe charging. Currently, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models can achieve a maximum charging speed of 27W with a compatible USB-C power adapter, while Apple’s official MagSafe chargers and third-party certified chargers support up to 15W wireless charging. The enhanced charging capabilities in the iPhone 16 series are expected to offset the increased charging time due to the larger battery capacities.
5. New Color Options
All iPhone 16 Models
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are anticipated to come in Black, White or Silver, Gray or “Natural Titanium,” and Rose color options. This suggests that the Blue Titanium option from the iPhone 15 Pro lineup will be replaced with a new Rose or Rose Gold Titanium finish, which may appear bronze under certain lighting conditions. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models are rumored to be available in Black, Green, Pink, Blue, and White. This indicates that the White option will replace the Yellow seen in the iPhone 15, while the other color options remain unchanged.
6. Ultra-Thin Bezel Technology
Maximizing Display Size
Apple plans to maximize the display size of the iPhone 16 series by employing a new ultra-thin bezel technology. The company will use Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology to minimize the bezel at the bottom of the display. BRS achieves this by packing internal copper wiring more tightly. It is expected that Apple will adopt this borderless display technology across all four iPhone 16 models. However, the bezels on the Pro models will be the thinnest ever seen on any smartphone, surpassing even those on the latest iPhone 15 Pro models.
In addition to the iPhone 16 series, Apple is also set to release the Watch Series 10 and new AirPods. The new iPhone 16 models will be available for purchase starting September 20.
